‘Known by their Fruits’, was commissioned by Dales Supermarket in Sittingbourne. Dales especially wanted a work that would act as a distinctive landmark which would welcome shoppers to the store. Sited alongside the B2005 which runs through Trinity Industrial Estate, it is highly visible to all passing by.

Mark Folds’ sculpture is of an apple and cherry grower pushing a barrow of fruit. This signifies the apple and cherry growing industry in the Swale area. The work is 7 feet high and was made from 10 tons of Ancaster stone. The title of the work is based on the Sittingbourne coat of arms motto: ‘Absolutely Known by Their Fruits’. As part of the commission, Mark worked with the local community, leading workshops with the children at Westlands High School. The prize money was used to create four murals for Sittingbourne town centre, working with four advanced level GNVQ students in Art from Westlands School.
